Island of Lipari
Lipari is the largest and most important island of the Aeolian Islands. The island is largely distributed around its famous castle and partly extends along the inlets of the Marina Lunga and that of Marina Corta.
The mild and pleasant climate make it a popular holiday destination, both in winter and in summer. The heart of the island is the town of Lipari, dominated by the castle, with its mighty city walls, where there is the cathedral of San Bartolomeo and the Aeolian Archaeological Museum.
The most popular street is Via Vittorio Emanuele, flanked by characteristic paths, shops, restaurants and clubs; while the most visited square is Marina Corta, a meeting point for islanders and tourists.
The coast of this beautiful island, captures the imagination of every tourist, and is able to satisfy every need, from bathing facilities equipped with every comfort, to the most secluded beaches and away from the crowds, where to spend relaxing holidays.
Beaches in Lipari
– Canneto Beach: located on the east coast.
Surrounded by a picturesque bay ,it offers diving in a clear turquoise sea. Equpped with all services: bars,restaurants,umbrellas and sunbeds.
– Acquacalda Beach: the majestic white mountain of the pumice dominates it. It is a masterpiece of nature; the quarries that make it up are unique in Europe. This beach is also equipped with all the amenities to satisfy tourists.
– Beach of Papesca: considered the most beautiful beach of Lipari. The seabed consists of the sediments of the pumice, which makes this sea a unique sight in the world. The color is an intense and particularly warm turquoise.
Island of Stromboli
For many the most captivating of the Aeolians, Stromboli conforms perfectly to one’s childhood idea of a volcano, with its symmetrical, smoking silhouette rising dramatically from the sea.
It’s a hugely popular day-trip destination, but to best appreciate its primordial beauty, languid pace and the romance that lured Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman here in 1949, you’ll need to give it at least a couple of days.
Island of Salina
In delightful contrast to the exposed volcanic terrain of the other Aeolians, Salina − the archipelago’s second largest island − boasts a lush, verdant landscape thanks to its natural freshwater springs.
Woodlands, wildflowers, thick yellow gorse bushes and serried ranks of grape vines carpet its hillsides, while high coastal cliffs plunge into the breaking waters below.
Island of Vulcano
With its visibly smoking crater and vile sulphurous fumes, Vulcano makes an indelible first impression. The island’s volcanic nature has long been impressing visitors: the ancient Romans believed it to be the chimney of the fire god Vulcan’s workshop, and today it remains famous for its therapeutic mud baths and hot springs.
The main drawcard, however, remains the Fossa di Vulcano (Gran Cratere), the steaming volcano that towers over the island’s northeastern shores.
The Island of Panarea

Once called “Ericusa” ,it is the most remote ,tranquil and unspoilt of all the islands.
It has only 134 residents and is 5,2 sq.kms.
The Island of Filicudi
Covered in fern,it is also the island with the most interesting seabed of wrecks and marine fauna.
It is also the island where the mill stones for the flour and olive mills were hand made.
